at Laurelwood Veterinary Hospital
Our mission is to treat every patient holistically, designing customized rehabilitation programs that address specific diagnoses, manage pain, and treat secondary musculoskeletal concerns while empowering owners to best support their pet’s recovery.
We are excited to lead you and your pet on their rehabilitation journey!
How we can help -
Conditions that benefit from rehabilitation therapy
Arthritis
Post-operatively
Swelling and inflammation of joints leads stiffness and affects mobility
Specifically beneficial after orthopedic surgeries such as a TPLO, FHO, MPL, or spinal surgery
Pain
Soft Tissue Injuries
Pain can be shown through limping, hard time getting up from laying down, hesitation to do regular activity, crying out when picked up, all specific to your pet
Often caused by strenuous activity or exercise resulting in
Senior Care
Weight Loss
Age is not a disease - however it does come with some wear and tear including arthritis and muscle wasting
Excess weight means more stress put on joints. Adipose tissue, or fat, is pro-inflammatory which means it worsens inflammation and arthritis in the body
Non-surgical Orthopedic Conditions
Hip dysplasia, degenerative myelopaty, low grade luxating patellas, and preventative care for breeds with predispositions (long backed , micro-sized, and short limbed breeds for example)
Conservative Management
Although surgery is gold standard - for some dogs, surgery is not the ideal option for various reasons including age, health status, and financial constraints. High grade luxating patellas, and cranial cruciate tears may have the option of conservative management
Laser Therapy
Decreases inflammation and pain in joints and tissues
We’re dedicated to helping your pet recover and thrive.
Our specialized rehabilitation therapy helps your pet regain mobility, strength, and balance, ensuring their comfort throughout the recovery process.
Hydrotherapy
Uses water to create buoyancy resulting in less weight for the pet to carry, promoting limb use
Services
Therapeutic Exercises
Strengthening and maintaining muscle, improve proprioception, promote weight bearing of affected limbs
VSMT
Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy - adjustments applied to a joint to improve movement
This is our passion!
